That ownership is historical experience, not a fresh test of today’s full lineup. Quick Verdict: Beautyrest Black or Stearns & Foster?
Bottom line: neither brand earns an automatic overall win. Current Estate and Lux Estate are serious pressure-relief and motion-control choices, not simply the stiffer alternative. My overall assessments are 9.2/10 for each Estate feel and 9.3/10 for each Lux Estate feel. My Beautyrest experience and the support system
Beautyrest Black uses Triple-Stranded Pocketed Coil technology, often called T3, including in Series One. Higher series change the comfort and feature packages. In my showroom experience, T3 makes an enormous difference in support and feel. World Class uses a different pocketed-coil system, so the two collections should not be treated as the same construction.
Beautyrest also offers firm and extra-firm mattresses. A plush surface is only one choice in the range. Surface firmness and support are different: compare how the exact mattress cushions pressure points, holds your body and allows you to move, rather than assuming the competing brand is automatically firmer or more supportive.

• Overall feel: Beautyrest Black ranges from firm and traditionally quilted to deep, contouring hybrids. Current Stearns & Foster also spans meaningfully different feels: Estate real-firmness assessments are 5.1, 4.2, and 3.2/10 for Firm, Medium, and Soft; Lux Estate is 5.1, 4.0, and 3.0. Neither brand is automatically the stiffer one.
• Pressure relief: Do not award this category from the brand name. Current Estate and Lux Estate Medium are each assessed at 8/10 for pressure relief, and both Soft models at 9/10. A plush Beautyrest Black remains worth trying, especially if its particular contouring feels better to you.

All six reviewed Stearns & Foster models receive 9/10 for motion isolation in my current assessment; responsiveness alone is not evidence of more partner disturbance. Compare exact Beautyrest and Stearns models with both sleepers present.
• Cooling: No brand-wide winner. My own Beautyrest trapped more heat than its marketing suggested. A firmer, shallower-sinking model from either brand will often feel cooler than a deeply cushioned pillow top.
• Value: Use the exact delivered price, return terms, and comfort fit. Current Stearns & Foster earns consideration for pressure relief, motion control, ease of turning, and edge support, not just finish. How Beautyrest Black and Stearns & Foster Feel Different
Beautyrest Black includes quilted and hybrid configurations in a wide range of comfort levels. Plush models can provide deep cushioning, while firm and extra-firm choices can feel lifted and resistant. Triple-Stranded Pocketed Coil support is a core Black feature, including Series One. Surface firmness and support should be evaluated separately.
Current Stearns & Foster should not be dismissed as substantial but stiff. Estate Medium and Lux Estate Medium are standard-top builds with real-firmness assessments of 4.2 and 4.0/10. What the Current 2026 Collections Include
Beautyrest currently organizes the Black line into Series One, Series Two, Series Three, and Series Four. All use the brand’s Triple-Stranded Pocketed Coil technology. Moving up the series adds more specialized foams, cooling treatments, latex in Series Three, and microcoil upgrades in the higher tiers. Beautyrest also offers both quilted and hybrid constructions, so two Black mattresses can feel dramatically different.

This update assesses only Estate Firm, Medium, and Soft and Lux Estate Firm, Medium, and Soft. Construction and Support
Beautyrest Black’s coil system is a genuine strength. Individually pocketed coils allow different areas of the mattress to respond without forcing the entire surface to move together. On my own Beautyrest, the underlying support remained impressive. My larger long-term concern was the comfort package above the coils, not the coil chassis itself.
The verified current Estate and Lux Estate builds use IntelliCoil innersprings and a Precision Edge innerspring border. Estate has a TENCEL cover and four AirVents; Estate Medium excludes TEMPUR-Indulge. Lux Estate has a TENCEL cover enhanced with cooling fibers, TEMPUR-Indulge, and eight AirVents. Those features describe construction, not proof of a comparative comfort, cooling, or lifespan win.
Do not choose by coil count alone. More coils can refine contouring, but steel gauge, coil geometry, zoning, upholstery, and how the layers work together matter more than a large number on a showroom card. The useful test is whether your spine feels level and your muscles can relax in your normal sleep position.
My Six Years With Beautyrest
I’ve slept on a Beautyrest for six years. Its pressure relief was excellent, the edge was solid, and the pocketed-coil support did a very good job isolating movement. I understand exactly why shoppers lie on one in a store and fall in love with it.

Both brands build heavy, premium mattresses, but price does not make either one immune to softening. With Beautyrest Black, I have more confidence in the pocketed-coil support system than in the long-term consistency of every thick comfort package. The plushest models place more material above the coils, and that is where body impressions or loss of comfort are most likely to become noticeable first.
